Mitochondrial and nuclear sequence polymorphisms reveal geographic structuring in Amazonian populations of Echinococcus vogeli (Cestoda: Taeniidae)

► Genetic diversity was searched for in Echinococcus vogeli populations from the Brazilian Amazon. ► Nucleotide sequence polymorphisms of mitochondrial and nuclear genes were looked at. ► No significant genetic divergence was found between samples from human and wild animal hosts. ► There was significant genetic differentiation between western and eastern Amazonian populations.
