Advanced MRI study of migrainous infarction presenting as cortical laminar necrosis - Case report and literature review

- Migrainous infarction presenting with a CLN appearance in MRI is extremely rare.
- Cortical spreading depression has been gradually accepted has the main pathogenic mechanism in migrainous infarction.
- Hypoperfusion might be one of the triggers inducing the blood-brain barrier disruption in the sub acute phase of the lesion.
- Accumulation of paramagnetic or diamagnetic compounds in the injured area can occur.
- CLN can be an interesting lesion model, providing information about cortex function.
