Escarres périnéales et dermite associées à l'incontinence

Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is a differential diagnosis of stage I or II pressure ulcers. It is related to prolonged exposure of the perineal and anal region to urine and/or stool. Caregivers are often in difficulty in establishing the correct diagnosis between DAI and stage I or II pressure ulcers due to a lack of knowledge of this condition. DAI is also a strong risk factor for pressure ulcers. Proper management of incontinence reduces the occurrence of lesions and the development of pressure ulcers. The education of caregivers is fundamental for a good management of these pathologies.
