Transgenic tobacco have been generated that are transformed with either the wild-type peanut peroxidase prxPNC2 cDNA (PNC2-WT), or a mutated prxPNC2 cDNA in which the asparagine residue (Asn189) at the single point of glycan attachment has been replaced with alanine (PNC2-M). Kinetic analysis has shown that the loss of the single strategic N-linked glycan has primarily influenced the thermostability of the PNC2 isoenzyme, as well as the thermal activation energy.
