Ruthenium catalyzed imido-transfer reactions of aldehydes: An easy access to N-sulfonyl aldimines under mild reaction conditions

(N-Tosylimino)triphenylphosphorane (Ph3PNTs) and [N-(p-toslylsulfonyl)imino] phenyliodinane (PhINTs) were found to be efficient imido-transfer reagents for imidation of aldehydes using [RuCl2(PPh3)3] as the catalyst. A probable mechanism for this reaction is proposed.
