The stability of the charged excitons X+ and Xâ as a function of the spherical quantum dot radius R and also as a function of the effective mass ratio Ï is studied with a formulation of the Hartree-Fock approximation using a calculation method which is based on the quantum adiabatic theorem. Our results indicate that the binding energies of X+ and Xâ are different except for ÏÂ =Â 1, the difference reduces as the ratio Ï increases, the binding energy of X+ is higher than that of Xâ, the binding energy of both charged excitons decreases as the mass ratio Ï increases and there is a critical mass ratio Ïc, such that for ÏÂ >Â Ïc the complex is unstable. Furthermore, studying the behavior of both charged excitons as a function of the dot radius for ÏÂ =Â 0.8, we found that both charged excitons are unstable.
