Toroid cans - An experimental and computational study for process innovation

► Toroid cans were designed for a possible process innovation in canning. ► Process application possibilities of toroid cans were determined. ► Flow field and temperature distribution inside the cans were computed. ► Additional boundary inside the toroid cans increased the heating rates. ► Improvement in the heating rates in toroid cans were demonstrated.
