Development of cellulose-based bactericidal nanocomposites containing silver nanoparticles and their use as active food packaging

► We investigated the properties nanocomposites. ► Nanocomposites are composed by HPMC and silver nanoparticles. ► Improved in nanocomposites properties were observed. ► Also demonstrated the bactericidal potential of nanocomposites. ► We conclude future use of these polymeric materials in plastic for packaging.
