The development of a systematic approach to mental health screening in Child Advocacy Centers

► A new protocol of mental health screening for children in Child Advocacy Centers. ► In the first year, 46.3% of children received a follow-up mental health screening. ► There was wide variation in internalizing and externalizing problems. ► At the follow-up, 50.8% of those interviewed had initiated mental health services. ► Several child/family factors increased the likelihood of service initiation.
