Towards the control of car underhood thermal conditions

► We present a physical analysis of particular underhood aerothermal behaviors. ► In this analysis, convective heat flux absorption should be noted. ► A new optimization procedure based on this physical analysis is proposed. ► It entails airflow redistribution in the underhood through deflectors. ► The new procedures are simple and easy to implement in the car underhood.
