Application of hemicelluloses precipitated via ethanol treatment of pre-hydrolysis liquor in high-yield pulp

► Hemicelluloses were precipitated from pre-hydrolysis liquor via ethanol treatment. ► Precipitated hemicelluloses and a commercial xylan sample were bleached via the D0EpD1 sequence. ► The characteristics of bleached hemicelluloses and xylan were evaluated. ► Their adsorption on high-yield pulp and their influence on papers made of HYP were assessed.
