Using virtual reality to characterize episodic memory profiles in amnestic mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease: Influence of active and passive encoding

► Using virtual reality we depict multifaceted episodic memory of aMCI and AD. ► We examine influence of an active exploration on episodic memory. ► Normal aging, aMCI and AD present different profiles (factual, temporal, spatial, binding). ► They both benefit from an active encoding possibly based on preserved motor brain areas. ► Measures via virtual reality correlate with subjective mnesic complaint.
