Biocontainment of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) on flat concrete surfaces by microbial carbonate precipitation

► A biosealant obtained from MCP as an alternative to epoxy coatings was evaluated. ► The biosealant produced a surface which is less permeable to water. ► The biosealed surface was resistant to carbonation. ► No PCBs were found in the permeating water. ► The biosealant is capable of confining PCBs in place.
