Telling a life story involves construction of meaning itself. Can this construction be built on a monologue? Can meaning be expressed without sharing it, discussing it with another? Can one interpret the meaning of one's own existence alone? In the context of medical ethics, faced with extreme situations imposed by disease or eminent end-of-life, human existence can seem to be an empty shell devoid of meaning. It appears necessary to depart from the egocentric hermeneutic narrative paradigm to introduce a sense of relation into the construction of meaning. This implies a dialogue allowing new interrogations and categorizations of one's existence, displacing the center for renewed meaning.
