Functional characterization and oligomerization of a recombinant xyloglucan-specific endo-β-1,4-glucanase (GH12) from Aspergillus niveus

► A dimeric xyloglucanase was secreted in Aspergillus nidulans strain A773 (pyrG89). ► The XegA far-UV CD spectrum indicated a protein rich in β-sheet structures. ► The XegA thermal stability revealed transition temperature at 50.8 °C and 70 °C. ► The monomeric form was more active than the dimer by hydrodynamic behavior.
