Inductive modulation on P-glycoprotein and cytochrome 3A by resveratrol, a constituent of grapes

► Resveratrol dietary supplement decreased the bioavailability of cyclosporine. ► Resveratrol-cyclosporine interaction may cause acute rejection in transplant patient. ► Resveratrol induced the activities of P-gp and CYP3A4. ► Resveratrol may reduce the clinical efficacy of substrates of P-gp and/or CYP3A.
