Determination of phenols in environmental water samples by two-step liquid-phase microextraction coupled with high performance liquid chromatography

► A two-step LPME method was applied to the determination of phenols in environmental water samples. ► A special device, which may facilitate the extraction and manipulation, was designed. ► The two-step LPME can multiply the enrichment factors for the phenols. ► The LPME method can combine with HPLC to analyze phenols, avoiding derivatization step that is generally necessary for GC analysis of these compounds.
