Synthesis and characterization of new oligomeric and polymeric complexes based on the [CuII(bpca)]+ unit [Hbpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amine]

► Cu(II) bpca-based complexes as building blocks for the engineering of MOFs. ► The [Cu(bpca)]+ monomers show a new case of pseudo-polymorphism. ► The dinuclear complexes as potential novel spacers for assembling polymers or MOFs. ► An unusual neutral chiral 1D polymeric complex with side-arms can be obtained. ► Interesting magnetic properties can be observed, as in the new trinuclear complex.
