Synthesis, structure and bonding of cadmium(II) thiocyanate systems featuring nitrogen based ligands of different denticity

Two 1-D polymeric complexes [Cd(μ-SCN)2(L1)2]1∞(1),[Cd(μ-SCN)2(L2)]1∞(2) and a centrosymmetric dimer [Cd(NCS)(μ-SCN)(L3)] 2 (3) bridged by thiocyanate ions are synthesized. 1 and 2 exhibit pseudo-octahedral geometry with N4S2 coordination, while 3 with N5S1 chromophore. The chelation to the metal centers in all the complexes is scrutinized with EHMO analysis.
