Preparation of electrospun alginate fibers with chitosan sheath

► Alginate fiber was electrospun into a bath containing chitosan and ethanol. ► Confocal microscopy was used to examine the structure of resulting fibers. ► This electrospun fiber exhibited an alginate core and chitosan sheath. ► This core-sheath fiber was more stable in normal saline than calcium alginate.
