On the stability and properties of the polyacrylate/Na-MMT nanocomposite obtained by seeded emulsion polymerization

► Polyacrylate/Na+-MMT nanocomposite was synthesized by seeded emulsion polymerization. ► The polymeric stabilizer helped to increase the latex stability. ► Nanocomposite latex showed very fine particle size and narrow size distribution. ► A mostly exfoliated nanocomposite was obtained. ► The increase in E′ of the nanocomposite was very drastic.
