Comparative study between catalysts for esterification prepared from kaolins

► The well-ordered kaolins were more effectively leached. ► Activated metakaolins presented a considerable increase in surface area. ► A correlation with Al content and acidity for each prepared sample. ► Leached metakaolins studied showed catalytic activity for the esterification. ► Kaolin can be a raw material for the production of catalysts for the esterification.
