► A new method for determining radionuclide distribution as a function of depth is presented. ► Multiple measurements are used, with enough measurements to determine the unknowns in analytical functions that might describe the distribution. ► The measurements must be as independent as possible, which is achieved through special collimation of the detector. ► Although the effects of measurements errors may be significant on the results, an improvement over other methods is anticipated.
