To train oneself in health education cannot be limited for the nursing staff only to learn how to pass on necessary information needed to continue his treatment. It is especially learning « from » the patient - his personal history and his particularity - that the health educator can help him adapt to new way of life. A paternal approach must be avoided so as not to give the patient the illusion of an autonomy for which he is not able to deal with. What we plan to do here is to develop Aristote's “phronesis”, which is often translated as caution, not pusillanimity, but sagacity. To act in agreement with singular subject, helping the nurse staff to coach his patient and make a commitment with him in a reflexive way and then to deliberate. So health education is more sharing knowledge than teaching knowledge. Developing himself at health education consists in building this knowledge with the patient who takes responsibility of his illness and coercion coming from nursing relation.
