L'enjeu bénévole, regard sur une démarche éthique

Benevolent work is halfway between an ordinary occupation and engagement. Theoretically, it has an impact on assisted persons by empowering them to act. There is however not clear frontier between benevolent and occupational activity. One of the important dimensions involved is the freedom of the benevolent workers, another is their engagement. We emphasize the original nature of this situation and the specificity of the nonprofit association movement as a nesting ground for engagement. Engagement nourishes the association and enables it to survive. Beyond associative work, engagement and ethics are the nervous system of benevolent work, with the stakes of empowerment.
