Fucoidan inhibits activation and receptor binding of transforming growth factor-β1

► Fucoidan binds to small and large LTGF-β1 as well as TGF-β1. ► It inhibits activation of LTGF-β1 and the receptor binding of TGF-β1. ► The inhibitory effects are greater with higher molecular weights of fucoidan.
