Effects of overexpression of mitochondrial transcription factor A on lifespan and oxidative stress response in Drosophila melanogaster

► Effects of TFAM overexpression were examined at the individual level in Drosophila. ► Excess TFAM had a negative influence on lifespan under the standard condition. ► Overexpression of TFAM caused responsive reaction against strong oxidative stress. ► A possibility that TFAM is involved in the elimination of ROS is suggested.
