Smaller quantal size and faster kinetics of single exocytotic events in chromaffin cells from the APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

► We studied exocytosis in chromaffin cells of Alzheimer's disease (AD) APP/PS1 model. ► Single spike quantal size and half-time were halved as compared to control mice. ► Brains of APP/PS1 mice exhibited abundant amyloid beta plaques (Aβ). ► However no Aβ burden or alterations in innervation were found in adrenal medullae. ► Exocytosis alterations in the peripheral nervous system in AD had not been reported.
