Identification and characterization of a novel Ribose 5-phosphate isomerase B from Leishmania donovani

► L. donovani Ribose 5-phosphate isomerase B (LdRpiB) is cloned and characterized. ► The presence of dimer of dimers i.e. tetramer form of LdRpiB is reported. ► The RpiB enzyme is found to be present in L. donovani promastigotes. ► The recombinant LdRpiB obeys classical Michaelis-Menten Kinetics. ► We propose that LdRpiB enzyme could be a potential antileishmanial drug target.
