Yeast ornithine decarboxylase and antizyme form a 1:1 complex in vitro: Purification and characterization of the inhibitory complex

► The secondary structure of AZ contains 51% β-sheet, 19% α-helix, and 24% coils. ► The association constant (KA) between yeast AZ and yeast ODC is 6 × 107 (M−1). ► We have isolated inactive ODC:AZ inhibitory complex for the first time. ► The MW of the complex is 90 kDa indicating a one to one binding of AZ and ODC. ► CD spectra of the ODC:AZ complex show a change in the secondary structure.
