Regulatory T cells as a potent target for controlling bone loss

► Regulatory T cells (Tregs) play a role in the suppression of immune responses. ► The most prominent subtypes are natural Tregs (nTregs) and inducible Tregs (iTregs). ► The investigators showed that Tregs directly suppress the differentiation of osteoclasts in vitro. ► Increasing Tregs number that can protect against TNF-induced bone loss in TNF-transgenic mice and ovariectomy-induced bone loss in FoxP3-transgenic mice.
