Antiradical and antioxidant activities of new bio-antioxidants

► Bio-antioxidants could be promising agents for management of oxidative stress-related diseases. ► New compounds belonging to a rare class of natural lignans have been recently synthesized. ► Chromatographic, spectral, kinetic and theoretical methods were applied to explain their activity. ► Equimolar binary mixtures with alpha-tocopherol demonstrated higher antioxidant activities. ► Bond dissociation enthalpy is the most important theoretical descriptor.
