Quantitative analysis of the mechanism of DNA binding by Bacillus DnaA protein

► This is the first report of soluble DnaA protein from Bacillus anthracis. ► DnaABA is monomeric and does not form aggregate like E. coli DnaA protein. ► DnaABA binds a variety of DNA sequences with varying DNA binding affinities. ► The complex formation is driven by entropic, ionic, and other interactions. ► DnaABA has a modest ATPase activity in which DNA acts as a positive modulator.
