A novel miniaturized most probable number method for the enumeration of Campylobacter spp. from poultry-associated matrices

► A miniaturized MPN (mMPN) was developed for Campylobacter enumeration. ► Naturally and artificially contaminated poultry-associated matrices were used. ► The evaluation was performed by comparison with the ISO reference direct plating method. ► There was good agreement between the mMPN and direct enumeration. ► The mMPN is an efficient and inexpensive alternative to standard plating techniques.
