Sequence and structural diversity of transferrin receptors in Gram-negative porcine pathogens

Overall our results indicate that there is a common reservoir for transferrin receptor antigenic variation amongst these pathogens. While this could present a challenge to future vaccine development, our results suggest a rationally designed TbpB-based vaccine may provide protection against all three pathogens.
