Rh1 high activity binding peptides inhibit high percentages of Plasmodium falciparum FVO strain invasion

► Conserved Rh1 high activity binding peptides interact with receptors on the RBC. ► HABPs inhibit merozoite invasion of RBCs in vitro in a strain-specific manner. ► Rh1 is transcribed and expressed in the P. falciparum FCB-2 strain. ► Specific binding of Rh1 HABPs is affected by enzymatic treatment of RBCs.
