Developing plant-based vaccines against neglected tropical diseases: Where are we?

► Low cost vaccines at the market are urgently needed to fight neglected tropical diseases. ► Plant-based vaccines (PBV) provide both low cost production and optimal oral delivery of vaccines. ► Advances on developing PBV against rabies, cysticercosis, dengue and helminthiasis are presented. ► Future perspectives for this field are identified.
