Safety and immunogenicity of an inactivated whole virus Vero cell-derived Ross River virus vaccine: A randomized trial

► First report of a clinical trial of a vaccine to prevent Ross River virus disease. ► Vero cell culture-derived inactivated RRV vaccine is safe and well tolerated. ► Three doses of a 2.5 μg aluminum hydroxide-adjuvanted formulation is optimal. ► Induces antibody titers associated with protection from disease in >90% of subjects. ► Data suggest that vaccine will effectively prevent Ross River virus disease.
