Calcineurin B subunit triggers innate immunity and acts as a novel Engerix-B® HBV vaccine adjuvant

► CnB is a strong stimulator of innate immunity. ► CnB-induced inflammatory cytokines production is dependent on integrin αM. ► CnB markedly increases the total anti-HBs in a dose and time dependent manner. ► CnB increases anti-HBs IgM and IgG titers and changes the balance of IgG2a and IgG1. ► Combined use of CnB and CpG further increases the production of protective antibodies.
