Development of a tailored vaccine against challenge with very virulent infectious bursal disease virus of chickens using reverse genetics

► A tailored vaccine (rGtHLJVP2) was developed using reverse genetics. ► The characteristics of rGtHLJVP2 were evaluated in both cell culture and SPF chickens. ► rGtHLJVP2 provides a live vaccine candidate for IBD due to its well replication and genetic stability in vitro and in vivo, no pathogenicity to chickens and full protection against homogenous and heterogenous vvIBDV.
