Tandem repeats of the extracellular domain of Matrix 2 influenza protein exposed in Brucella lumazine synthase decameric carrier molecule induce protection in mice

► The ectodomain of the Matrix 2 protein (M2e) is nearly invariant in all human influenza A strains. ► Influenza M2e peptide fused to Brucella spp. lumazine synthase protein is remarkably stable. ► The chimera may expose 10-40 M2e copies in each subunit with the expected decameric conformation. ► Mice immunized with a multicopy chimera were protected from challenge with live influenza virus.
