Investigations of porcine circovirus type 1 (PCV1) in vaccine-related and other cell lines

► Viral contamination of cell lines can occur due to bovine serum and porcine trypsin. ► PCV1 was recently reported in a rotavirus vaccine due to cell line contamination. ► We used sensitive PCR and infectivity assays to test various cell lines for PCV1. ► There was no evidence of PCV1 in the test cell lines relevant for human vaccines.
