Apports et limites de l'imagerie en médecine légale du vivant dans le cadre d'une expertise pénale

Forensic medical imaging appears as an incontestable aid in the resolution of court cases. However, its application in clinical forensic medicine is still limited. We report the case of a patient victim of a stab wound in the thigh following an assault in the street. This wound was complicated by a vascular injury whose diagnosis raised from signs including deglobulisation and hemodynamic alterations. Its confirmation and its precise location were provided by CT- angiography. In addition, the analysis of these images allowed the medical expert required by justice in the criminal procedure to answer largely to the asked questions, while the victim was not examinable.
