Mise en évidence d'une soumission chimique au GBL au Centre d'accueil en urgence des victimes d'agression (CAUVA) du CHU de Bordeaux, Ã propos d'un cas

Gammabutyrolactone (GBL) is an industrial solvent quickly metabolized in sodium gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB). GHB is now prohibited in France because of its addictive effects. The consequence of this ban was the emergence of his pro-drugs, GBL and 1,4-Butandiol. Through his short elimination half-life, no GHB is detected in blood and urine after 12 h. Highlighting the GBL during a chemical submission, crucial for the legal qualification of the facts, must be very fast and requires biological samples involving an efficient collaboration between emergency physicians, forensic physicians and toxicologists analysts. Such efficiency of this cooperation is shown in this case report of a 22-year-old male victim of a drug-facilitated sexual assault.
