► All methods for direct determination of hydrazines were considered. ► They are ion, ion-pair, ion-exclusion and hydrophilic interaction chromatography. ► Separation selectivity and sensitivity of detection are discussed for each method. ► Advantages of direct methods over ones based upon derivatization were proved.
