Spectroscopic investigation of auranofin binding to zinc finger HIV-2 nucleocapsid peptides

The interaction of the gold drug auranofin with zinc fingers, corresponding to the C-terminal HIV-2 NC protein from two different isolates, was investigated by spectroscopic techniques and mass spectrometry. This study suggests that CCHC zinc fingers may be potential targets of auranofin.50
