Dimethylsulfoxide gold-thallium complexes. Effects of the metal-metal interactions in the luminescence

Reaction of dimethylsulfoxide with [AuTl(C6X5)2]n (X = F, Cl) lead to extended linear chains built with Tl-Au-Tl units bridged by the oxygen atoms of DMSO ligands. These complexes have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Luminescence results in solid state and in solution are presented and discussed.
