Carbocyclic carbene ligands in palladium-catalyzed C–N coupling reactions

Palladium complexes bearing a cycloheptatrienylidene ligand are powerful precatalysts for C–N coupling reactions. Their catalytic performance is directly compared to analogous 2,3-diphenylcyclopropenylidene complexes. The crystal structure of cis-dibromo(cycloheptatrienylidene)(triphenylphosphane)palladium(II) is presented.

Palladium complexes supported by a cycloheptatrienylidene ligand showed significantly higher catalytic activities in Hartwig–Buchwald amination reactions than corresponding 2,3-diphenylcyclopropenylidene systems. The solid-state structure of cis-dibromo(cycloheptatrienylidene)(triphenylphosphane)palladium(II) was investigated and compared to the analogous chloro derivative.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
