A two-dimensional coordination polymer with a brick wall structure: Synthesis, crystal structure, and properties of a nickel(II) hexaazamacrocyclic complex with azido ligand

► Chemistry of hexaazamacrocyclic nickel(II) complexes. ► The most interesting feature of this structure is the 2D brick wall through intermolecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds interactions. ► The complex 2 was characterized by IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRPD, fluorescent spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. ► Complex 2 exhibits blue fluorescent emission in the solid state at room temperature.
