Experimental verification of enhanced electromagnetic field intensities at the photonic stop band edge of 3D polystyrene photonic crystals using Z-Scan technique

► A field enhancement of 1.4 times at the photonic band edge was observed in the open aperture Z-scan. ► Control on the nonlinear absorption through photonic band gap. ► Small reduction in the optical limiting threshold was observed.
